Bunker Proving Grounds is a state-of-the-art testing facility for companies to test out new innovations in the automotive, agricultural, construction, forestry machinery, heavy equipment, and snow equipment industries. Test new vehicle chassis systems in harsh winter conditions, experiment with the new handling of a motorcycle prototype on good hi-co concrete surfaces, or prove the effectiveness of an innovative snowplow. Our mechanics and extensive facilities support your unique testing situation.

Our location in Gwinn, Michigan, makes it ideal for testing equipment in severe winter conditions, with a significant and reliable amount of snowfall each year. Some notable features include:

Modern, State-Of-The-Art, Customizable Surfaces

Our modern, well-maintained surfaces meet or exceed standardized testing site specifications. Since we serve as the site manager, contractor, and maintenance crew, we can customize the experience and surfaces to meet many different road conditions.

Ample Security

The 150-acre site is fully secured, with a fenced property, video surveillance, gates, and other security measures. It is a safe and secure site for testing proprietary equipment confidentially.

Exclusive Site Access

The entire site can be leased at the same time so that there is no threat of leaked innovation or shared spaces, if needed. Other teams will not have access to your team’s research.

Accessible to Sawyer International Airport

Our location is adjacent to Sawyer International Airport. This makes it easy to fly your staff and cargo into the site as needed, with easy access to accommodations and restaurants.

Wi-Fi Capabilities

Our entire site is wi-fi capable. Your team can access the internet throughout the site to input testing data or continue your research – from the track to the garage. Wi-fi is readily available in the main buildings, and you can expect to receive mobile coverage throughout the site.

Expansive Indoor Facility

Our 50,000-square-foot facility has space for testing, research development, corporate training, and large commercial events. This includes:

  • Staff mechanics
  • 5 hydraulic lift bays
  • 5 flat bays
  • 2 covered garages
  • 2 conference rooms
  • 3 meeting rooms
  • Cold room access to simulate winter conditions in warm months

Large Conference Facility

For companies and associations that plan conferences, training, or corporate meetings, we lease our large indoor conference facility to support these events. We also have ample space for recording video commercials and training films.

Observation Tower

Monitor operations throughout the entire site from a historic 100-foot-tall observation tower that sits in the middle of the proving grounds. You can see your entire team’s progress from a high vantage point.

Added Safety Features

Throughout our proving grounds, safety features are a part of the design. Snow banks and dry asphalt provide extra safety to help fast cars slow down after high speed tests.

All-In-One Testing Partner

As a leased research development site, we’ll serve as your on-site maintenance team, site owner, and contractor all-in-one partner. We’re on-site to customize and maintain our surfaces every day.
